The WiMAX Forum to Host Webinar on Why This Wireless Broadband Technology Has Been Chosen to Provide Connectivity on the Airport Surface
CLACKAMAS, OR – March 16, 2016 – This month, the WiMAX Forum® will host a free live webinar on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 8AM PDT called “Expect Enormous Changes in Aviation Performance with Certified AeroMACS,” which is open to all seeking more information. For additional details and registration, please click here.
The WiMAX Forum, the global body that certifies and promotes the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products based on IEEE Standard 802.16, with the help of its member companies continues its efforts to the advancement of the Aeronautical Mobile Airport Communication System (AeroMACS) globally. AeroMACS is the wireless broadband communications system that supports the transmission of safety and regularity of flight data for both fixed and mobile applications on the airport surface. Spectrum is available for use today, and AeroMACS supports hundreds of applications and benefits all stakeholders in the vast aviation industry. AeroMACS already plays a major role in reducing flight delays with detailed real-time data and operating more efficiently to handle more traffic. Additionally, it lowers operating costs, financial risk, and fuel consumption while reducing the risk of airport mishap and time spent maneuvering in congested areas.
Certified AeroMACS products will soon be available. The WiMAX Forum AeroMACS Designated Certification Laboratory (ADCL) is now scheduling Wave 1 AeroMACS Certification. The Aviation Working Group (AWG) has approved the Radio Conformance Tests procedures to support this activity, and AWG members are now developing procedures for Protocol Conformance Testing, Interoperability Testing, and any remaining testing to support AeroMACS Certification Wave 2, which is expected to occur later this year.
Learn from industry experts how AeroMACS has been chosen as the technology of choice to provide wireless connectivity on the airport surface for the Aviation Industry and the global major deployments. In this free webinar, the speakers will address key questions about the technology:
“With the FAA’s and EUROCONTROL’s support and the developments in AeroMACS security and certification, there will be increasingly more AeroMACS deployments, which will dramatically improve the experience for all stakeholders on the airport surface on a global scale,” said Declan Byrne.
Next month, Declan Byrne, Dr. Nima PourNejatian, and Brian Crowe will present more information and updates about AeroMACS at the ICNS Conference. Declan Byrne and Dr. Nima PourNejatian will discuss “AeroMACS: How to Warrant Interoperability,” and Brian Crowe will present “Proposed AeroMACS Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) as a Model for Global and National Regulatory PKI Deployments” on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
