Supporting the advancement of the WiMAX Smart Grid ecosystem
CLACKAMAS, OR – December 18, 2014 – The WiMAX Forum® is pleased to announce its upcoming annual WiGRID 2015 event, a pre-conference session being held on February 2, the day prior to the 25th Annual DistribuTECH Conference. The session will focus specifically on supporting the Smart Grid community in the deployment of effective and cost-effective 4G WiMAX networks.
WiGRID 2015 is free to attendees of DistribuTECH and designed to foster the continued advancement of the WiMAX Smart Grid ecosystem. The event, which will be held at the San Diego Convention Center, is open to all participants of the WiMAX ecosystem. DistribuTECH is one of the leading conferences in the utility industry, gathering an average of 10,000 attendees each year, as well as vendors, operators and energy companies.
Speakers have been invited to share utility-focused technology expertise, spectrum analysis and availability, and case studies to highlight the latest strategies involved with operating an efficient and affordable smart grid network. Preceding WiGRID 2015, the WiMAX Forum Smart Energy Working Group (SEWG) will meet to discuss the ongoing FCC 3.65 GHz proceeding, WiGRID testing and certification, and continuation of group business. WiGRID attendees are welcome to participate.
“This year’s DistribuTECH conference theme – ‘making connections to the smart grid and beyond’ – is particularly relevant to our mission as a Working Group,” said Eugene Crozier of PowerTech Labs and Chair of the WiMAX Forum SEWG. “The WiMAX ecosystem continues to be a viable choice for next generation smart grid networks.”
Said WiMAX Forum President, Declan Byrne, “In the utility market, WiMAX is the optimal Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) technology for wireless communications. The rise of Smart Machines and M2M communication calls for more robust and secure data networks that are owned by the utility, as opposed to the commercial networks available today. WiGRID 2015 is designed to support these utilities in their efforts to maximize the benefits of these technologies.”
Registration is required to attend. For additional information and registration, please visit: www.WiMAXForum.org/Page/Events. For more information on WiMAX technology or to become a member of the WiMAX Forum, please contact Alessandra Rocha at Alessandra.Rocha@WiMAXForum.org.
