The Bell Has NOT Rung on WiMAX, January 30, TMCnet
So there's been quite a bit of buzz this past few weeks about the potential demise of WiMAX. So I asked Scenna Tabesh, director of marketing communications for the WiMAX Forum, for some insight into the Nortel situation as well as the future co-existence of the two 4G approaches, LTE and WiMAX.

WiMAX Forum Launches Global Roaming Program, January 26, Information Week
The WiMAX Forum has introduced a global roaming program that enables operators and vendors to get the information to create WiMAX roaming services. This is an important step for the 4G technology, as it potentially enables WiMAX subscribers to get service while moving outside of their home network's geographical coverage area. It also enables device manufacturers to create products that can utilize multiple WiMAX networks from different providers.

To help stimulate WiMAX usage further, the WiMAX Forum has launched its global roaming programme. This allows operators and vendors to easily obtain the information required to establish WiMAX roaming services. "Member companies have yet another tool to facilitate the advancement of their WiMAX technology innovations and make 4G a seamless experience for customers," says John Dubois, global roaming director at the WiMAX Forum . "We are already beginning to see how WiMAX technology will drastically improve the next-generation of broadband applications and services, and this roaming readiness programme is another example of how the WiMAX ecosystem is working to extend the availability of services to subscribers.

The WiMAX Forum has launched its Global Roaming Program, which allows operators and vendors to easily obtain the information required to establish WiMAX roaming services. The program is now live and can be easily accessed through a link on the WiMAX Forum public web site at www.wimaxforum.org or directly at www.wimaxroaming.org . Roaming capabilities are vital for mobility as roaming allows subscribers to access WiMAX and other services while traveling outside their home network geographical coverage area.

VeriSign's CTO, Ken Silva, was in San Francisco for a live interview for Forbes Video Network. When talking about Forbes Most Wired Cities list, Ken talked about VeriSign's role in device authentication and mentioned how VeriSign sees promise in this area (WiMAX).
